IBA artists reflect on Lockdown: 3 Jackie Tilston

I'm sorry to say, I haven't felt like creating botanical art during the pandemic.  I think like a lot of people I've often felt scattered and lacking in focus.  Botanical painting, if done in the illustration tradition, is a precise exercise, and I just haven’t felt able to be precise!

My love of plants and flowers, however, has not waned, and I’ve found myself doing more and more reading and self study on plants, especially those with medicinal benefits, in and around my garden.  I’m now working full time again and slightly lacking in time to refocus back on creating.

When I do have time, I would love to create a series of paintings of the plants I’ve used to create natural herbal remedies this year including achillea, nettle, hops, sage and plantain.
