Councillor Sonia Brown enjoys the Mayor's choice of best work, 'Bindweed' by Sheila O'Brien

Spring into Summer 2019 at Diss Cornhall

Official opening by Mayor Trevor Wenman
The 2019 Iceni Annual Exhibition 'Spring into Summer' was officially opened on Saturday 4th May by the Mayor of Diss, Councillor Trevor Wenman. In addition to viewing the wonderful work on display, the Mayor and his team also selected their favourite piece, and awarded the prize of a gorgeous pink Dicentra Spectabalis / Bleeding Heart plant to Sheila O'Brien for her beautiful and freely expressed work 'Bindweed'. While the highly skilled and detailed work more typical of botanical art and illustration was much admired, Sheila's evocative and skilful piece combined with her unusual choice of subject caught the mayor's eye, and deservedly won the day.

There is also an ongoing chance for the public to vote for their favourite work throughout the exhibition, and the winner will be awarded a prize at the close of the show at the end of June.

A fine morning was had by all, with great support from the fantastic and friendly team at the Cornhill.

The first workshop, Botanical Watercolour with Tina Bone went really well, and the Observational Drawing workshop with Georgina Kuna is coming up soon on June 1st.
